After very painful deep tissue massage on cold muscles pain did go away 2 days later. But what is happening with tissues after painful massage? Why is it painful, because of bruising like effect, or inflammation effect? Is this "effects" are causing build up of the connective tissue?

Psoas muscle damage

I had surgery 6 weeks ago for a ruptured disc-4th and 5th vertabrae. They seem to think the surgery went ok. However they had a hard time getting thru my psoas muscle. I now have one very week leg and use a walker.Will PT and exercises help this?
